The practice of Architecture is rewarding – watching clients beam as they see their new space come to life will put a permanent grin on our memory.  Yet there are seasons when, like any profession, we long for greater purpose – to stretch our influence beyond a set of drawings.

Hollis + Miller gladly participates in the ACE Mentor program, where we have a chance to interact with young minds and provide a picture of what the design profession looks like.

ACE Academy (Architecture, Construction, Engineering) is a program that High School students can participate in.  The program aims to connect the students to professionals, and give them a flavor for the different industries of the design and construction world.  Our hope is that by testing out these professions, the students can have a greater understanding of where their strengths and interests lie when the day comes to choosing a college or career path.

Our staff has enjoyed the opportunity to meet the amazing and enthusiastic students of Olathe Northwest High School.  Seeing the ideas and creative vision from the students has been an encouraging experience – As professionals, we realize the value of taking the time to refresh our minds in what can sometimes become a stagnant field.  We feel that the chance to share and even rediscover our passion is helpful not only to the students, but to us as well.  As we guide them through a project this semester, we look forward to seeing each student’s project come to life through their very first set of drawings.

ACE Mission:

The mission of ACE is to engage, excite and enlighten high school students to pursue careers in architecture, engineering and construction through mentoring and to support their continued advancement in the industry.
